Tipitina’s Interns perform at Jazz Fest, 2 head to Berklee

Tipitina’s Interns perform at Jazz Fest 2018

The 2017/2018 Tipitina’s Internship Program (TIP) class, accompanied by artistic director Donald Harrison, Jr. and assistant Thomas Glass, took the Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent stage on the second weekend of Jazz Fest, 2018! Their hard work over the school year paid-off at this impressive musical performance. We are so proud of our interns!

The TIP program is part of the Berklee City Music Network. This year, two of our TIP Interns were awarded scholarships to attend the Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program. Gloria “Fumie” Nimitz just completed her 2nd year in our program. She plays the flute, clarinet and saxophone. She attends the New Orleans School for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Anthony Beavers has been in our program for all four years of high school. He plays the alto saxophone. Both are talented and dedicated musicians who are very deserving of the Berklee scholarship. Congratulations to Fumie and Anthony! We can’t wait to hear about your summer adventure.

Thanks in-part to our generous donors and sponsors, Tipitina’s Foundation is able to cover the cost of room and board for our scholars.  If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a student, visit our website: or contact Louise at (504)309-7934,
