Tipitina’s Foundation is proud to announce the 15th Annual Instruments A Comin’ Event. On April 25, 2016, join us as we celebrate New Orleans music, Honor Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Donald Harrison, Jr., cheer on the battle of the bands, and raise money to place more instruments in New Orleans area schools.
Your old trumpet called. It wants to move out. And we think we've found a pretty good home -- at a school. So whatever instruments you have, we'll take them. Banged up. Dinged. Rusted. Broken. We'll fix them and get them into the hands of kids who will love playing them.
Does your school need new instruments? We are currently accepting applications from school and after-school music programs across Louisiana in need of additional instruments. Submit your application before the April 15th deadline.
It's been 10 years. 10 hoppin', swingin', rockin', years. In that time, we've placed $3 million worth of instruments in schools, graduated 125 students from our Tipitina's Internship Program, hosted workshops for 1500+ young musicians, and offered music technology training for adult musicians. Yet, this is just a snippet of all we do. With your help, we'll be able to do even more.
Tipitina’s Foundation supports Louisiana and New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and preserves the state’s unique musical cultures. The Foundation grew out of the Tipitina’s music venue, a revered New Orleans cultural icon that continues to be instrumental in the development and promotion of Louisiana music around the world.
